Amherstburg Heritage Homecoming Committee presents Mother
& Daughter banquet by Amherstburg Echo
Mothers and daughters
gathered at the Verdi Club on May 6, for a special banquet
held by the Amherstburg Heritage Homecoming Committee.
The banquet was to help raise money for the fourth annual
Heritage Homecoming in September.
"Tonight
isn't only about raising money," said co-organizer
Sylvia Hurst. "It?s about mothers and daughters spending
time together." Mothers
and daughters of all ages were able to enjoy each others
company with a dinner provided by the Verdi Club.
After dinner
the guest were told to look under their saucers to revile
a number, those with numbers won a wonderful door prize.
Guest speaker Carolyn Robinson spoke to the crowd about
the importance of motherhood and being a mother.
The Amherstburg
Heritage Homecoming Committee is also planning a father-son
banquet on June 10.
The Committee
is dedicated to celebrating the local heritage of its residents,
especially those descendants of the Underground Railroad.
This year the Heritage Homecoming will be held on September
8, 9, and 10. This year?s celebration will include a wide
variety of activities the whole family will love.
"We hope
that everybody comes out to enjoy a wonderful weekend of
family fun," said Hurst.
